With the proposed changes and even suggestion of abolishment of adventure activities licensing we are happy to confirm that the Welsh Government/Llywodraeth Cymru have decided to retain adventure licensing in respect of Wales.

Bushcraft Development

Over the last week work has been focused on developing a new on-site venue for bushcraft. Reclaiming existing land an area has now been cleared to allow for this unique activity to take place as part of the schools’ programme from Spring 2012.

Once completed the venue will consist of a storage unit, an all weather session shelter, woodland and fresh water stream. It is hoped under the specialist guidance of Head Instructor Andy Booth, Bushcraft will become a popular activity choice amongst the schools, as it will allow for further learning outside of the classroom and access to all.

Below are some photos from the the early stages of development.

Southville School arrive in Wales

A party of children from Southville School and accompanying staff arrived safely at Morfa Bay in anticipation of a busy adventurous week of activities.

The weather on Monday didn’t deter them from enjoying their first afternoon of activities and in the evening a Spooky walk  for Halloween down to the beach returning for hot chocolate around the log fire.

Tuesday and what a beautiful day sunshine all the way at Morfa Bay! Thankfully no need for rain coats today and the lads able to play football on the pitch during their lunch break without getting covered in mud!

Wednesday another dry start to the morning but quite blustery but all wrapped up warm and out and about participating in a variety of activities including Climbing,Orienteering,Muddy Assault Course and Abseiling.

Stockwell Baptist Group arrive at Morfa Bay Wales

A group of young people and their leaders have arrived for a weeks residential at the centre to include work shops and adventurous activities.

After their journey down from sunny London they have arrived to beautiful Carmarthenshire and rain, rain and more rain!

This certainly hasn’t dampened any of their spirits and every now and then the sun peaks through to give some respite.

This afternoon the group are participating in Sea Activities at Pendine with hopefully plenty of surf for all participants !

After an afternoon of getting wet they will all certainly be looking forward to chilling out in the games room around the log burner and following this Di’s homemade curry night.

Wales!Wales!Wales!

Morfa Bay together with the whole of the welsh nation are waiting with anticipation for the big game on Saturday.

With Jon (Fox )Davies hailing from this part of Wales and having visited Morfa Bay as a little lad we wish both him and the rest of the team good luck in their semi final against France they have indeed earned their spot.

Thankfully for all the staff working Saturday morning the clients visiting the centre from Abercynon have forwarded the news they desperately want to watch the game so activities have been delayed until the final whistle.

So Jono, Rhys, Nick, Andy & Hannah  who all thought they had drawn the short straw this weekend enjoy your bacon/sausage baguettes while cheering the guys on and lets hope they can go one step closer to that coveted trophy.
