Well we have all been busy of late which has meant neither Jen or Jon updating the news page!

Visitor wise we have welcomed 3 Pembrokeshire Primary Schools together with Selly Oak School Birmingham and although the weather was atrocious all had a fun time trying out new activities and making new friends.

Last Friday we then welcomed 3 schools from Cardiff St Cadocs/St Phillip Evans and Christ the King .A weekend of sunshine was theirs to enjoy! They returned to Cardiff yesterday tired after their busy weekend of activities and we hope with lasting happy memories of their time at Morfa Bay.

Today we welcome Mynydd Cynffig and Dowlais Primary Schools with the sunshine continuing already they have settled in and are now on their second activity of the day.

This evening they will head out to the beach following evening meal returning to the centre for hot chocolate before bed.

We are now able to use our new toilet/shower/changing facility and drying room for visitors (which has proved to be a great asset over the last few weeks)

Thanks to all the team from Bassett and Mcgregor over the past 5 months for their hard work in completing the buildings on schedule!

Accompanied by their teaching staff they are all enjoying the challenges of Abseiling/Zip line/Caving/Climbing/Muddy Assault Course/Orienteering/ Sea Activities/Bush craft and Archery.

The rain continues to poor but can’t dampen the enthusiasm of the children and all enjoying getting wet and muddy.

Thank goodness for the new Morfa Bay drying room it most certainly is being put to the test today!

Who cares about the weather when you are having fun!

All in having lunch at present keeping nice and warm around the log burner.

Updates to follow.

Well after a morning of torrential rain the sun has come out! Morfa Bay is bathing in sunshine we wonder has summer now arrived?

From anoraks and waterproofs to an afternoon of the children in t shirts. What is happening to the weather these days?

The children and staff from Llangynidr have certainly had a busy day today.

Lots of tired little hectors arriving in the dinning hall for breakfast and most of the boys appearing to have bad hair days! As the week has progressed the children have been later and later getting up out of bed.

This morning they headed for the beach all kitted out in their wetsuits including staff!

The surf was brilliant and all had an amazing time. Following lunch all on the muddy assault course and how muddy was that after all the rain we have had during the night.

This evening following supper maybe a final walk to the beach and DVD or Disco to finish depending on whether the sleepy heads can stay awake!

Beautiful sunshine all the way today at Morfa Bay and the children continue with their adventurous activity programme.

Today a variety of sessions including the mountain bike track/archery/zip line/climbing/abseiling and Llangiwg pupils finishing this afternoon session on the muddy assault course.

This evening the children head on down to the beach maybe an ice cream? and then back for hot chocolate and bed.

Tomorrow after their sea activites and lunch we bid farewell to Llangiwg children as they head home.

Llangynidr pupils continue with their taster session activities culminating in Body Boarding on Thurs and then the famous mud assault course. There are for sure going to be some over worked washing machines on the weekend and I am sure the Persil test is most definitely going to be challenged!

Morfa Bay welcomed Whitminster and Christchurch pupils to the centre yesterday accompanied by their staff.Following room allocation and a hearty lunch they all headed down the beach for a sea session. Despite the weather being not so warm as a few weeks ago they all had a thoroughly fun adventurous experience.

After evening meal they followed the coastal path to Pendine before returning to the centre for a well earned hot chocolate and bed.

Today (tues) with the sun shining they are all taking part in onsite activities including Archery/High ropes/Climbing/Zip line/Biking and the famous mud assault course.

After the heavy rain that fell during the night it will most certainly be wet and extremely muddy so stand by all those washing machines as you will be working over time on the weekend!

GENEROUS Tata steelworkers have donated more than 200 Easter eggs for charities in South Wales.

An appeal by the steel giant to its employees and contractors asked them to pick up an extra egg with their regular shopping to be donated to disadvantaged children locally.

As a result a number of eggs will be going to Morriston Hospital’s Welsh Dragon Burns club, an organisation run by volunteers to help children under 16 who are burn survivors or left permanently scarred from a burns injury.

Leyton Russ, a health and safety advisor at the Port Talbot steelworks volunteers for the club and each Easter helps run an outdoor pursuit’s residential for the kids at Pendine, said: “The eggs will be given on Easter Sunday as part of an Easter egg hunt for the kids. They really enjoy the time away and having a chocolate treat at the end of it is a bonus for them.”

Appeal co-ordinators initially asked Tata employees to provide 35 eggs for the children of the Dragon Burns club’s but were so overwhelmed by the number of eggs donated across both sites in Port Talbot and Llanwern that they were able to donate to all of the children and siblings at Ty Hafan Children’s hospice, Sparkle in Newport, Neath and Port Talbot Women’s Aid, Action for children and the Children’s ward and adolescent ward at the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport.

Jon Ferriman, hub director of Tata Steel said: “We try and help in the local community whenever we can, and much like our Christmas gift appeal, we are trying to spread a little joy this Easter. We have had a link with the Welsh Dragon Burns and Ty Hafan for many years and a number of our employees volunteer for both organisations.

“Being able to give back to the community is a Tata company philosophy we try and adopt. The generosity of our employees never ceases to amaze.”

Over the last two weeks we have seen further development with the new build and the enhancement of facilities at Morfa Bay Adventure.

Nearing completion the new toilet/changing facility is looking fantastic and will prove to be a vital asset in the ongoing progress the centre strives to make. As well as this our new client drying room and further refurbishment of much of the centre means that we almost ready for the busy, continuous intake of school residentials throughout the Spring/Summer Term.

Last week we welcomed Bishops College, Quebec, Ladies Rugby Team for a two night stay and we wish them all the best for the remainder of their European Tour. On a Thursday and Friday over the last couple of weeks Morfa Bay Adventure has facilitated a 4 day climbing/abseiling experience for the year 10/11 PE students of Sandfields Comprehensive, Port Talbot. Running from different venues along the Gower coastline, students were offered the opportunity to gain experience in what is a very popular outdoor sport.

Finally I must congratulate Nick, Andy & Rhys for gaining their D1 Minibus Licence following an intensive few days with Mainport Traning, Haverfordwest. Da iawn boys.

Right looks like the surf is up so I’m off!
