Another wonderful week at Morfa Bay

This week Mynydd Cynffig and Dowlais schools are in residence and today is their last day of a packed activity programme with the added extra of glorious sunshine throughout their stay.

Yesterday the centre welcomed a group of pupils from St Cenydd School and accompanying staff to participate in a 2 day  activity programme.

All the children have tried a number of activities including the High ropes tower/Sea activities/Caving /Bush craft and the Muddy Assault course which always proves to be popular.

Tonight after evening meal a final night Disco with resident DJ Mr Rhys Page ably assisted by Andy Skate board Jones.

A busy few weeks for Morfa Bay Adventure !

Well we have all been busy of late which has meant neither Jen or Jon updating the news page!

Visitor wise we have welcomed 3 Pembrokeshire Primary Schools together with Selly Oak School Birmingham and although the weather was atrocious all had a fun time trying out new activities and making new friends.

Last Friday we then welcomed  3 schools from Cardiff  St Cadocs/St Phillip Evans and Christ the King .A weekend of sunshine was theirs to enjoy! They returned to Cardiff yesterday tired after their busy weekend of activities and we hope with lasting happy memories of their time at Morfa Bay.

Today we welcome Mynydd Cynffig and Dowlais Primary Schools with the sunshine continuing  already they have settled in and are now on their second activity of the day.

This evening they will head out to the beach following evening meal returning to the centre for hot chocolate before bed.

We are now able to use our new toilet/shower/changing facility and drying room for visitors (which has proved to be a great asset over the last few weeks)

Thanks to all the team from Bassett and Mcgregor over the past 5 months for their hard work in completing the buildings on schedule!

Ashcombe School arrive.

Ashcombe Primary School arrived safely yesterday and have started their adventurous activity programme.

Accompanied by their teaching staff they are all enjoying the challenges of  Abseiling/Zip line/Caving/Climbing/Muddy Assault Course/Orienteering/ Sea Activities/Bush craft and Archery.

The rain continues to poor but can’t dampen the enthusiasm of the children and all enjoying getting wet and muddy.

Thank goodness for the new Morfa Bay drying room it most certainly is being put to the test today!

Who cares about the weather when you are having fun!

All in having lunch at present keeping nice and warm around the log burner.

Updates to follow.

Well after a morning of torrential rain the sun has come out! Morfa Bay is bathing in sunshine we wonder has summer now arrived?

From anoraks and waterproofs to an afternoon of the children in t shirts. What is happening to the weather these days?

A welcome respite from the rain although all the children were thoroughly enjoying getting wet and muddy! After tea this evening a hike to Pendine beach before the climb back up the hill for a well earned rest and welcoming hot chocolate.

Final activity day for Llangynidr

The children and staff from Llangynidr have certainly had a busy day today.

Lots of tired little hectors arriving in the dinning hall for breakfast and most of the boys appearing to have bad hair days! As the week has progressed the children have been later and later getting up out of bed.

This morning they headed for the beach all kitted out in their wetsuits including staff!

The surf was brilliant and all had an amazing time. Following lunch all on the muddy assault course and how muddy was that after all the rain we have had during the night.

This evening following supper maybe a final walk to the beach and DVD or Disco to finish depending on whether the sleepy heads can stay awake!

Tues 24th April

Beautiful sunshine all the way today at Morfa Bay and the children continue with their adventurous activity programme.

Today a variety of sessions including the mountain bike track/archery/zip line/climbing/abseiling and Llangiwg pupils finishing this afternoon session on the muddy assault course.

This evening the children head on down to the beach maybe an ice cream? and then back for hot chocolate and bed.

Tomorrow after their sea activites and lunch we bid farewell to Llangiwg children as they head home.

Llangynidr pupils continue with their taster session activities culminating in Body Boarding on Thurs and then the famous mud assault course. There are for sure going to be some over worked washing machines on the weekend and I am sure the Persil test is most definitely going to be challenged!

LLANGYNIDR & LLANGIWG SCHOOLS ARRIVE

Both schools have arrived at the centre and the sun has come out!

After settling in to their accommodation and following a hearty lunch of filled rolls and home made soup the children are out and active. Llangynidr pupils are on the climbing wall and zip wire and some of the children trying their hand at Bushcraft while Llangiwg are on the high ropes course.

Tonight following evening meal they will all take up the challenge of the Morfa Bychan coastal path hike returning to the centre at 9pm for a well earned rest and hot chocolate prior to bed.
